What to expect

A collagen protocol takes time. The research took time. So does building a routine.

Collagen peptide studies run for weeks or months. That is why a protocol needs one thing above all: consistency.

Studied over weeks

In two randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies, bioactive collagen peptides were taken daily for 8 weeks.

16

How we check reviews

We collect reviews through the Judge.me service. Reviews marked “Verified” could be matched to an order in our shop. For reviews without this mark, we cannot check whether the person bought or used the product. We show positive and negative reviews and do not change their text. Reviews of different pack sizes of the same product appear together. English and French versions are translated automatically; you can show the original on each review.

    Easy to take

The collagen capsules are pleasantly small and easy to swallow. At a recommended dose of 6 capsules a day, one pack lasts a month. For anyone wanting to use collagen as a supplement, this product is a good choice: taking it is straightforward, and the capsules have no unpleasant aftertaste. All in all a good product that I can recommend!

    Capsules instead of powder

I wanted to try the capsules, as it is often annoying to take collagen as a powder when travelling. The recommended daily dose is 4–6 capsules, which does make sense so that a decent amount actually gets into the body. The collagen comes from pigs, which you might perceive as bad, but the opposite is the case: pig collagen closely resembles human collagen, so absorption is good. I take the capsules in the morning on an empty stomach and have no problems at all. Particularly good: the collagen has no additives, just pure collagen. All in all top!

Outstanding! Here is my assessment in detail: Packaging – brown apothecary glass, high-quality, no cheap plastic packaging or the like. The label is well designed and informative. Ingredients – patented peptides. 100% collagen, from Germany, no additives; I find that convincing. Use and effect – daily use has paid off. My skin is noticeably and visibly fresher. My hair is fuller and stronger too. Verdict – thumbs up!

I know of no better collagen products

Kollagen Institut is my new favourite brand: fast delivery, a high-quality product in apothecary glass. First effect after a few weeks. Top top top!!!

    I notice a difference

The capsules are odourless and without any aftertaste. The effect is of course always hard to describe. I have now been taking the capsules for six months, and my skin is doing better and better. It is a sort of gradual process, but in the right direction!

    First impression

First impression: high-quality apothecary glass. Good capsule size – not too large (hard to swallow), not too small (otherwise no effect). Label legible and informative. Very positive on the ingredients: only collagen, no other additives, no fillers or the like. The collagen comes from Germany, which makes me confident – not imported from somewhere in Asia and then bottled. It all makes a good impression. Even if there should be no effects on my skin in a few weeks (we shall see, I have only just started!), the nutritional values are good for my body: plenty of protein, no sugar, no unnecessary calories.

Questions about collagen for skin, hair and nails

The role collagen plays in skin, hair and nails, and how to take it.

What role does collagen play in skin, hair and nails?

Skin is made up largely of collagen – above all type I. Together with elastin, these fibres form a network that gives skin its structure.

Hair and nails, by contrast, are not made of collagen but of keratin – a different protein with a different structure.

Our protocol is built on specific bioactive collagen peptides, types I and III.

How do I take the collagen?

Powder:
Stir 5 g once a day into 250 ml of water, juice or a drink of your choice. Unflavoured and soluble, in your morning coffee too.

Capsules:
6 capsules a day with a meal and enough water – about 3 g in total, handy on the go.

Powder or capsules: one jar lasts 30 days.

What can I expect from the protocol?

The same serving every day – 5 g of powder or 6 capsules – for 90 days, so three jars. And full transparency: this page shows how the ingredients in this product were studied – participants, study design, duration and original sources.

Why do you show studies instead of promises?

Because the decision should be yours. We disclose what was studied – with study design, number of participants and original source. We leave the judgement to you.

Why is the protocol designed for 90 days?

The four studies on the peptide type in this product ran for 8, 16 and 24 weeks. One jar lasts 30 days – the 90-day protocol with three jars fully covers the shortest study and sits within the range studied. That is why we recommend it to start. If you then also want to cover the longest study period, choose the 180-day protocol with the lowest price per day.

Why bioactive peptides — and not just collagen?

“Collagen” alone does not tell you which specific peptides a product contains. Enzymatic hydrolysis splits collagen into smaller collagen peptides, producing peptides with different properties.

For our protocols we deliberately select specific bioactive collagen peptides, taking into account the peptides, doses and intake periods that have been studied.

This is how we link the choice of peptides to clinical studies – matched to each goal.

What is known about long-term intake?

The four studies on this peptide type ran for up to 24 weeks. We recommend starting with the 90-day protocol. To cover the whole study period, choose the 180-day protocol – at the lowest price per day.
